WE BUY BOOKS!

We are happy to buy good books in all subjects, whether singly or as a collection.

The books that we are most keen to buy are those that would appeal to the collector, or to the person who already has a serious interest in the subject covered by the book.

(We often explain this in the shop by saying that we want to be as different from W H Smith as possible.)

In the case of fiction, a collector will be looking either for first editions, or for beautifully bound, limited or illustrated editions of works by noted authors.

We are particularly interested in old, rare or academic books on science and mathematics.

Except in the case of exceptionally rare items, the books we buy must be in good condition and complete.

If a collection is large and promising, we will travel to view it.

We may pay for (return) postage on smaller quantities of books in order to view them, if they seem promising enough and the owner is serious about selling them.

We try to be as fair and generous as possible when purchasing, but please remember that the idea is for us to charge more when we sell a book than we paid when buying it.
(Although it doesn't always work out that way!)
